Introduction

1. Welcome to the Khula Learn & Earn Competition (“Competition”), proudly presented by Khula Vet (PTY) Ltd, herein referred to as “Khula.”
2. This competition is designed to engage, educate, and reward the dedicated veterinary staff across South Africa, fostering knowledge and awareness about rabies.
3. This competition is conducted in proud association with the Global Alliance for Rabies Control (GARC), a leading organization dedicated to the prevention and elimination of rabies worldwide.
4. The Rabies Educator Certificate (REC), is an educational course developed by GARC. The GARC REC is recognized as a pivotal program for empowering veterinary professionals and community educators with comprehensive knowledge and strategies to combat rabies.
5. Boehringer Ingelheim has generously supported this initiative, demonstrating their ongoing dedication to the fight against rabies and their support for the veterinary community. This collaboration with Boehringer Ingelheim enhances the impact and reach of the Khula Learn & Earn Competition, contributing significantly to our efforts to educate and empower veterinary professionals in South Africa. Competition Outline

1. The first 200 individuals who successfully complete the GARC Rabies Educator Certificate (REC), using the unique link obtained by registering with Khula, during the competition period will be eligible to receive TAKEALOT vouchers to the total value of R300.00.
2. This incentive is designed to encourage and reward early and active participation in the competition.
3. Competition START: Thursday, 2 May 2024 (10h00)
4. Competition END: Wednesday, 2 October 2024 (10h00)

Eligibility

1. Sector and Employment Criteria
   • This competition is exclusively open to staff employed by SAVC registered veterinary practices within the private sector of the veterinary industry.
   • Eligible establishments include private veterinary consulting rooms, private veterinary clinics, private veterinary hospitals, and private veterinary specialist referral centers.
   • It is important to note that welfare organizations, non-profit organizations, and state veterinary services do not qualify for participation in this competition.
2. Participant Eligibility within Veterinary Practices
   • All veterinary staff employed by the veterinary practices, as stipulated above in the Specific Sector Eligibility section, are invited to participate in this competition.
   • This includes veterinarians, veterinary nurses, animal health technicians, hospital assistants, kennel assistants, veterinary receptionists and other support staff who are currently employed and in good standing with their respective SAVC registered private veterinary practices.
   • The competition recognizes the diverse roles and contributions of all staff members within a veterinary practice to the health and welfare of animals. We encourage a broad spectrum of veterinary professionals and support staff to engage in this opportunity for learning, professional development, and recognition. Participation is open to these individuals to celebrate their dedication and hard work in the veterinary field.
3. ‘I have already completed the GARC REC – can I still participate?’
   • To ensure fairness and promote new learning opportunities, individuals who have previously completed the GARC Rabies Educator Certificate (REC) prior to the commencement of this competition will not be eligible to participate.
   • This condition aims to provide new learning experiences to participants and extend rewards to first-time completers of the course.

Course Registration and Access

1. The competition launches on Thursday, 2 May 2024 (10h00) and runs for 6 months, ending on Wednesday, 2 October 2024 (10h00).
2. Registration is a two-step process:
   • STEP 1: The participant registers with Khula by following this REGISTRATION LINK.
     • Alternatively, please copy and paste the following URL into an internet browser: https://control.mailblaze.com/index.php/lists/cd5614f6d6712/subscribe
   • STEP 2: From 2 May 2024 (10h00), registered participants will be sent an email with a link to the GARC Platform. This will occur throughout the duration of the competition.
     • Participants must use the access link shared in STEP 2.
     • This is to ensure the following:
       • Khula can track successful course completions with GARC.
       • Participants can be verified according to the above stipulated conditions
3. Please note: Individuals that register directly on the GARC website without following the STEP 2 link provided by Khula, will not be eligible for participation in this competition.

Email Requirements

1. To participate in the Khula Learn & Earn Competition, each participant must register using a unique email address that is personally owned and controlled by them.
2. The use of an individual’s own email address is essential for verifying participant identity, facilitating confidential communication regarding the competition, and distributing any rewards or certificates earned through participation.
3. This requirement helps prevent any misunderstandings, duplications, or fraud during the competition process.
4. Registrations submitted using an email address not owned by the participant, or using an email address shared with another participant, will be considered invalid.
5. By ensuring the exclusivity and authenticity of each registration, we aim to maintain a fair, transparent, and secure competition environment for all involved.

GARC Rabies Educator Certificate – Course Details

1. This is a free, online course.
2. Participants will have continuous access to the course materials and can complete the course at their own pace.
3. The course is provided in English
4. Course overview is as follows:
   • What is rabies and how do people and animals get the disease
   • How to avoid dog bites and prevent rabies
   • Caring for animals
   • Understanding the role of a community educator in preventing dog bites and rabies
   • Communicating the life-saving information with people
5. To successfully complete the GARC REC, participants must go through all modules and pass the final assessment. A certificate of completion will be issued by GARC.

Course Support and Troubleshooting:

1. By engaging with the GARC REC on the GARC platform, participants will benefit from GARC’s expertise and innovative approaches to rabies education.
2. It is important for participants to note that while Khula facilitates access to the GARC REC as part of the Competition, the course content, delivery, and certification are solely the responsibility of GARC.
3. Participants will direct any course-specific inquiries or concerns directly to GARC, ensuring that any queries related to course content or certification are addressed by the experts.

Competition Winners

1. The determination of competition winners will be based on the timestamp of completing the course. This information will be provided to Khula by GARC on a weekly basis.
2. Winner Notification
   • Only the winners of the competition will be directly contacted by Khula regarding their prize.
   • Winners will receive notification via email. It is the responsibility of each participant to ensure that the email address they provide at the time of registration is accurate and actively monitored.
   • Winners can expect email communication from Khula within 14 working days of course completion.
3. Checking Competition Results
   • Participants who wish to check if they have won are invited to visit the official Khula Vet competition results page.
   • The list of competition winners will be published on a weekly basis on the following webpage: www.khulavet.co.za/StopRabies
4. Khula Vet will not be responsible for informing all participants individually about the competition outcomes, except for those who have won. It is the sole responsibility of each participant to consult the designated webpage.
5. Queries Regarding Results
   • Any inquiries or disputes regarding the competition results must be directed to Khula via email at info@khulavet.co.za within 30 days of the competition end date: 2 October 2024 (10h00).
   • Khula Vet will address and resolve any such inquiries or disputes at its discretion, in accordance with the competition rules and regulations.
6. Email and Prize Distribution Responsibility
   • Khula will distribute TAKEALOT gift vouchers via email.
   • Participants must check their email (including spam/junk folders) for their vouchers.
   • Khula is not responsible for the non-receipt of a voucher due to incorrect email addresses or delivery issues beyond our control.
   • Any issues with voucher receipt must be reported, via email, within 30 days of a participant’s successful course completion.
   • All telephonic communication with Khula must be followed by written communication via email.

Prize Details

1. Each winner of the competition will be awarded a prize comprising two TAKEALOT gift vouchers:
   • One (1) TAKEALOT gift voucher valued at R250 (Two Hundred and Fifty Rand)
   • One (1) TAKEALOT gift voucher valued at R50 (Fifty Rand)
   • The combined value of the prize for each winner amounts to R300 (Three Hundred Rand).
2. Terms of Use for Gift Vouchers
   • Voucher Redemption:
     • The TAKEALOT gift vouchers can be redeemed exclusively on the TAKEALOT platform.
     • Winners can apply the vouchers towards any purchase on the TAKEALOT website or mobile app.
   • Validity:
     • The gift vouchers must be redeemed within the validity period as specified by TAKEALOT.
     • Winners are encouraged to check the expiration date upon receipt of the vouchers and use them before they expire.
3. Non-Exchangeable:
   • The gift vouchers are non-exchangeable and cannot be redeemed for cash.
   • No cash alternatives or substitutions will be offered for the prize.
4. Non-Transferable:
   • The gift vouchers are issued to the competition winners and are non-transferable.
   • Only the registered participants who are declared winners are eligible to use the vouchers.
5. Cumulative Use:
   • Winners may use the R250 and R50 TAKEALOT gift vouchers together in a single transaction or separately, depending on their preference.
   • However, both vouchers must be used in accordance with TAKEALOT’s voucher terms and conditions.

   • Personal data of participants will be processed in accordance with applicable data protection laws and used solely for the administration of the competition and distribution of vouchers.
3. Limitation of Liability
   • Khula is not liable for any indirect or consequential losses or expenses suffered by participants, however caused. Khula is not liable for participants providing email addresses with errors or failed delivery.
4. Amendments to Terms and Conditions
   • Khula reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions without prior notice. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting on the Khula website.
5. Jurisdiction
   • These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of South Africa. Disputes arising shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of South Africa.
6. Acknowledgement
   • By registering for the competition, participants are deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions.
