It covers the properties of commonly used drugs, such as Halothane, Isoflurane, Sevoflurane, and Desflurane, explaining their speed of onset, solubility, and potency. The presentation also delves into the functionality of vaporizers and breathing circuits, offering practical advice for safe and effective anaesthetic administration. Through detailed explanations and practical tips, it aims to enhance understanding and application of inhalational anaesthesia in the veterinary setting.

Your progress through each module will be registered by clicking on the “Mark Complete” button at the end of each section. After watching the webinar, you will be required to take a short quiz. You will need to get over 70% to pass the quiz and have unlimited tries to do this. Upon passing the quiz you can download your CPD certificate. Your CPD point will be uploaded to the SAVC portal within 1 month of completion.

Prof Gareth Zeiler,
BVSc (Hons.) MMedVet (Anaes) Dip ECVAA Dip ACVVA PhD
Prof Gareth Zeiler leads the Anaesthesia and Critical Care Service at Valley Farm Animal Hospital, where he also trains residents specialising in veterinary anaesthesia.
A graduate of the Faculty of Veterinary Science at the University of Pretoria in 2006, he returned in 2011 to pursue specialisation in veterinary anaesthesia. Prof Zeiler is board-certified in both Europe (Dipl. ECVAA) and the United States (Dipl. ACVAA).
In addition to his clinical role, he serves as an extraordinary lecturer at the University of Pretoria’s Faculty of Veterinary Science, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students. His research interests include fluid dynamics and management in domestic animals, as well as the physiology of wildlife immobilisation and anaesthesia.
