Khula — a Zulu word meaning to grow and thrive
Khula Vet was founded by Dr Charlotte Philip and Dr Michelle Markram, by veterinarians who understand the realities of clinical practice. Built on the belief that education empowers people, Khula exists to support veterinary teams at every stage of their professional journey.
WHY KHULA EXISTS
Veterinary science is demanding, but it is also deeply rewarding. Increasing pressures, emotional strain, and limited access to mentorship, particularly in the early years, have highlighted the need for more practical and supportive training within the profession.
Khula Vet was created to help bridge this gap by offering guidance, education, and support where it is needed most.
WHAT WE DO
Khula Vet delivers bespoke, practice-relevant training that reflects the realities of everyday veterinary work. What began as training for veterinarians has grown to include veterinary nurses, animal health technicians, kennel staff, and reception teams.
Our courses are designed to support both individuals and practices, with the aim of building confident, capable, and well-rounded veterinary teams.
Meet the Founders
Dr Charlotte Philip (BVSc)
With over 12 years of experience across multiple areas of the veterinary profession, Dr Charlotte Philip has worked in small animal private practice, industry, pet nutrition, practice management, and veterinary training. Her diverse background has shaped a practical, people-focused approach to education, with a strong emphasis on supporting veterinary teams to thrive in their working environments.
Dr Michelle Markram (BSc Hons, BVSc)
With over 10 years of experience in the veterinary profession, Dr Michelle Markram has worked in small animal practice in South Africa and the UK, gaining exposure to a wide range of practice environments and team dynamics. Her passion lies in education, mentorship, and creating supportive working environments that allow veterinary teams to grow and thrive.
