Overview:

Welcome to the High-Risk Anaesthesia course, designed for general practitioner veterinarians and veterinary nurses who are looking to build confidence and improve outcomes in complex anaesthetic cases. This advanced, case-based programme focuses on practical decision-making and patient-specific planning in high-risk scenarios commonly encountered in small animal practice.

Across nine comprehensive modules, you will explore key risk categories including airway compromise, age-related considerations, shock and sepsis, trauma, GDV, hepatic and renal disease, obesity and oncology, endocrine disorders, and neurological patients. Each module is designed to provide clear, practical strategies to help you anticipate complications, optimise stabilisation, and safely manage these challenging patients.

You will have 6 months to work through the course material. At the end of each module, you will be required to complete a short quiz. A pass mark of 70% or higher is required in each module in order to qualify for CPD points. Upon successful completion of all modules, you will earn 9CPD points.

Please ensure that you click the “Mark Complete” button at the end of each section. This allows us to track your progress, confirm course completion, upload your CPD points to the SAVC portal, and issue your CPD certificate for download. CPD points should reflect within approximately one month of course completion.

We value your feedback. Please take a few minutes to rate and provide feedback for each module under the course material section. Your input helps us continue to deliver high-quality, relevant training.

We will be available throughout the course during office hours for any questions, discussions, or technical support. Please contact us at info@khulavet.co.za

We’ve set realistic timelines to help keep you on track and motivated to complete the course. That said, we know that life and the demands of this profession can be unpredictable — if you’ve fallen behind and need more time, please email us to request an extension.
